Every day, Jim works behind the scenes to ensure the availability and reliability of the machines and equipment used by Dussmann Luxembourg. A true technical reference, he operates both on our internal installations and directly on site to ensure operational continuity.
His role is built on three essential pillars:
- Preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing of machinery and equipment
- Diagnosis and repair of breakdowns, often unexpected
- Continuous improvement of equipment to optimize performance and durability
I don’t just fix what’s broken: I try to understand why it broke and how to prevent it from happening again.
Every day, Jim works on a wide variety of machines, particularly those used for winter services and landscaping maintenance — key periods when activity peaks. Scrubbers, combustion engines, specialized equipment: each machine requires precision, expertise, and responsiveness.
His days alternate between scheduled maintenance and emergency interventions. While a planned schedule structures part of his work, the reality on site demands great adaptability: breakdowns don’t give notice. His ability to quickly diagnose malfunctions and intervene effectively is essential to minimize the impact on operational teams.
Beyond repairs, Jim takes a true analytical approach. Every breakdown is studied to identify its root cause and provide a sustainable solution.
This proactive approach helps strengthen the reliability of the equipment and supports the overall performance of the services.
His career reflects this technical vocation. Growing up on a farm, he developed an early, hands-on understanding of machines and manual work. This experience shaped his resourcefulness and practical skills. He then pursued training in automotive mechatronics, combining mechanics and electronics.
In 2019, he joined Dussmann while continuing his education alongside his professional activity. In 2023, he earned his master’s certificate in mechatronics, completing a path that balanced fieldwork and studies, further enhancing his expertise.
For Jim, three words define his profession: ingenuity, precision, and inventiveness. Finding solutions, working rigorously, and imagining continuous improvements are the keys to a demanding and ever-evolving profession.
